Paleo Kids’ Meals For Back To School

Written by Amanda Donohue, blogger and student pursuing an M.S. in clinical nutrition

It’s back to school season, and that means you’re back to juggling a busy schedule. You may find that the inevitable tasks of helping your kids with their homework and school projects or running them to soccer practices in the evenings leave you little time and no energy for dinner food prep and cooking.

Why Paleo Meals are Great Meal Options for Kids

Statistics show that Americans spend almost 40 minutes a day cooking, almost 5 hours a week.Sometimes this just isn’t possible, and parents are  left with options that include warming up frozen and already-prepared, processed meals that are often high in salt and other preservatives – a big no-no for developing children who need a lot of nutrients and are susceptible to diseases like obesity and hypertension.

For parents looking for a healthier alternative, Caveman Chefs offers evolving Paleo meal prep options that are comprised of organic, local sustainable ingredients — and a bonus, there’s no doubt your child will love them!  In addition, many parents are challenged with omitting trigger foods in children with food allergies and sensitivities. In fact, more than 5.6 million children have reported having food allergies.2 Common food allergies include milk, wheat and soy, all of which are eliminated from our paleo meal prep options.

Kid-friendly Paleo Options

At Caveman Chefs, we offer two kid-friendly paleo meals that can be served at either lunch or dinner.

gluten free chicken tenders

Almond-Breaded Chicken Tenders and Cauliflower Mac and Cheese

These chicken tenders are made of fresh herb and almond flour-breaded chicken and come with a side of cauliflower dairy-free macaroni and cheese and honey mustard dipping sauce – a favorite!

Kids’ Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs

spaghetti squash

Our meatballs are grass-fed and laid over spaghetti squash and topped with fresh basil marinara.

Since both of these meals have an emphasis on vegetables (i.e., cauliflower and spaghetti squash in lieu of noodles), children are getting the healthy nutrients they need to foster good health. Spaghetti squash is full of vitamin C important for immune health, and cauliflower is also known for its antioxidative role and its fiber content, which is great for digestion.
